Multani Mitti is a mineral which was found thousands of years ago
in the area now known as Barmer/ Jaisalmer of Rajasthan. When the local people dug wells for
water, after the sand and stones, they reached a different type of soil. It was found more than a
hundred feet below the surface. Mankind is inquisitive in nature, which has led to all the discoveries
and innovations and inventions – whether big of small. People used this special soil to clean
themselves and found the results to be quite good. Thus MULTANI MITTI was born.
MULTANI MITTI is found only in a very small patch of Rajasthan and Pakistan. Similar mineral soil,
found anywhere else cannot be called MULTANI MITTI.
